As a Head of Data Governance Unit

You will be responsible for defining, implementing, and continuously improving the bank’s data governance framework. You will ensure that data across the organization is well governed, trusted, and compliant with regulatory and internal requirements.

How do you create value?

  • Define and lead the bank’s data governance strategy and framework, ensuring clear ownership, governance processes, and accountability across the organisation
  • Set and enforce data standards, including data quality, data lifecycle, metadata, lineage, and classification
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g. EBA Guidelines, GDPR, internal policies)
  • Oversee data quality management, controls, and issue remediation processes
  • Collaborate with business, risk, compliance, IT, and data teams to embed governance into day-to-day processes
  • Lead and develop the Data Governance Unit, setting priorities and building governance capabilities
  • Drive continuous improvement of governance processes, tooling, and reporting

Our expectations for you

  • Proven experience in data governance within banking or a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of regulatory expectations related to data management and data quality
  • Experience defining data ownership models, governance frameworks, and standards
  • Bachelor’s degree required, majoring in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analysis, or Information Technology preferred
  • Strong background in process management and optimization
  • You have advanced data analysis skills, including good level SQL
  • Well-developed communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills
  • You have good verbal and written communication skills in Estonian and English
