Our department of Infrastructure is looking for a new team member. Infrastructure department mission is to provide optimized, reliable and secure technological platform for Bigbank's services. At Bigbank, Network Engineer works in collaboration with product developers and site reliability engineers to reach a common goal of maintaining service delivery excellence. Network Engineer helps colleagues from Infrastructure department with network-related daily tasks and product teams to provide solutions and services, within limits of own competence and responsibility.

What you will be doing

  • Design, troubleshoot and optimize networking solutions to facilitate provisioning of Bigbank's services;
  • Improve scalability, availability and efficiency of network infrastructure;
  • When possible, provide feedback to product teams in terms of support and co-operation to improve availability and efficiency of business applications;

  • Maintain technical documentation;
  • Utilize best practices whenever possible, establish and follow procedures for critical activities;
  • Get engaged in service capacity planning, network performance analysis and system tuning;
  • Maintain healthy life cycle status of network infrastructure components;
  • Drive the company through disaster recovery tests, where we manually turn down pieces of infrastructure to test our systems overall resiliency to failures;
  • Research, debug and investigate issues related to network infrastructure reliability and performance.

You will be successful if you have

  • Have knowledge and understanding of modern networking, including common protocols (DNS, DHCP etc);
  • Terminology like routing (BGP), VLANs, managed switches, firewalls (pfSense/OpnSense), packet filter, CARP/VRRP, Link aggregation (LACP), VPN (IPSec) makes you feel comfortable;
  • Have experience in mission-critical networking, including maintenance and troubleshooting of pfSense and/or OpnSense in production environments;
  • Can do some coding, mainly for automation purposes (Shell, Python, Perl etc.);
  • Can freely communicate in English (verbal and written);
  • Are able to promptly troubleshoot and fix business-critical issues;
  • Good knowledge of English, verbal and written.
