What you'll be doing
Providing expert and strategic legal advice that effectively supports business areas in their everyday operations, contractual matters with third parties and duty to comply with relevant laws and regulations and internal procedures.
Why is this important to Bigbank?
Whenever the government introduces new banking regulations, the Corporate Lawyer has to come up with an action plan to comply with them. It’s an ongoing conversation. Corporate Lawyer doesn’t just give an answer and say good luck to the business team. Corporate Lawyer’s job is to make sure business understands the new rule and can apply it in a meaningful way. Supplementary, Corporate Lawyer will have the leading role in contractual negotiations with Bank’s cooperation partners in order to achieve the best and most effective economic conditions for the Bank.
How you'll spend your day
Explain the law and give legal advice concerning Estonian laws and regulations (main focus is on consumer crediting, issuance of business loans, concluding different cooperation agreements).
Oversee and draw up legal documentation and coordination between the parties involved.
Support that existing and new legislation, supervisory authorities’ decisions and notes etc. that impact Bigbank AS operations in Estonia are interpreted, impact on existing Bigbank AS policy and business practices analysed.
Interact with the supervisory authorities.
Ensure that relevant guidelines of supervisory authorities are applied.
Things you’re already doing:
You have at least 2 years’ experience working with supervisory authorities in the finance sector (alternatively experience working as a legal counsel in a law office, bank, investment or insurance firm).
You have proven ability to drive decisions making to achieve end objectives in legal and/or compliance matters.
You are an excellent communicator, presenter and are able to create support and buy-in across a wide range of stakeholders.
You are able to manage many projects simultaneously at a high-quality level.
You have Master’s degree or equivalent in law.
You have advanced Estonian and English language skills; both oral and written.
