What you'll be doing
You will provide an in-house legal and compliance service that effectively supports business areas in their duty to comply with relevant laws and regulations and internal procedures in Finnish and Swedish Branches.

Whenever the government introduces new banking regulations, the corporate lawyer has to come up with an action plan to comply with them. It’s an ongoing conversation. Corporate lawyer doesn’t just give an answer and say good luck to the business team. Corporate lawyer’s job is to make sure business understand the new rule and can apply it in a meaningful way.
How you'll spend your day
You will ensure, that Bigbank Finnish and Swedish Branch operations, procedures, products and services are in compliance with internal and external requirements.
You make sure, that managers and employees on business critical positions are aware and advised about compliance management issues and emerging compliance trends.
You will provide an in-house legal and compliance service that effectively supports business areas in their duty to comply with relevant laws and regulations and internal procedures.
You ensure, that the injunctions made by supervisory authorities are applied, established violations eliminated timely and managed professionally.
You provide legal advice regarding contractual issues, also preparation of necessary contracts and agreements between Branch and mother company as well as Branch and cooperation partners.
You are responding to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures.
You are reviewing and approving the marketing materials considering the interests of the Branch and deriving from the valid legal acts.
You take part in litigation commenced regarding Branch activities.
Things you’re already doing:
You have preferably 2 years’ experience working in finance sector or experience working as a legal counsel in a law office, investment or insurance firm, preferably in regulative department.
You have Master of Laws degree.
You are advanced level in Finnish, Swedish and English, both in oral and written.
You have strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organisation.
You must know about the business – understand the way it works, its culture and processes. The key is to understand the bigger picture, so you can advise on law/compliance and strategy.
You need to be highly organised and able to prioritise, depending on the business drive.
Things we're working on
First we transformed from old school offices-based banking to purely digital banking. Next we dove into the digital journeys of our customers and figured out what they need for excellent experience. Now, we are building a new banking platform made up of microservices, renewing our entire technology stack.
